Goa Coastal and Environment Management Society
Goa Coastal and Environment Management Society (GCEMS) Goa Coastal and Environment Management Society (GCEMS) registered under the Society’s Registration Act 1860 formed on 22/02/2019 and presently housed in the Department of Environment and Climate Change,4th Floor, Dempo Towers, Panaji - 403 001.
Objective of the society:
I. To implement the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Project for improving environmental status of the Coastal stretches of the State with the financial assistance from World Bank through Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) and any other project of similar nature entrusted by the State or Central Government.
II. To interact with the Central and State Government Department/s and participating agencies ,funding agencies , Consultants and the Experts for the implementation of the projects in the state .
III. To prepare all financial proposals and submit to the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) or any other funding agency through the State Government and obtain funds distribution to State implementing departments /organizations.
IV. To render periodical progress reports expenditure statements etc to Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) or World Bank or any other funding agency with the Knowledge of the State Government.
V. To regularly monitor and evaluate all activities components of the projects, suggest action plan for improving the output.
VI. To organize periodical review including meetings of Executive Council of the Society and take follow up action on the recommendations made by the Bodies.
VII. To organize camps, exposure visits, training etc for capacity building and orientation of implementing departments /agencies, Coastal Community, Community based organizations and Non-Government Organizations.
VIII. To compile and analyze relevant data, prepare documents and give due publicity to projects activities and create adequate awareness among public on positive impact of the project.
IX. To organize scientific studies for other stretches of the state requiring management in future.
X. To prepare interim and completion report of all components of the projects.
XI. To carry out and execute environmental restoration projects as entrusted by the State or Central Government or Institution.
XII. To receive grants from State or Central Government or any other institutions for maintenance and administrative set up of the Society, incur expenditure for overall implementation of the ICZM project or any other project entrusted by the State or Central Government or any Institution.
XIII. To acquire and hold property, provided that prior approval of the State Government is obtained for the acquisition of immovable property.
